RBPF Hosts Annual Garden & Church Services

The 2020 Annual Garden Service in Remembrance of the officers who died in the line of duty was held was at Police Headquarters on Sunday 5th January, 2020 at 12noon.

Father Stephen Davies presided over the service. Family members and loved ones of the deceased officers were present and laid a wreath in their honour.

Following the service in the Garden of Remembrance officers formed two-ranks and paraded to Holy Family Roman Catholic Church for the Annual Church Service. The parade was led by Commissioner Anthony Ferguson and his Senior Leadership Team. During the service the 2019 list of officers fallen from the ranks of the police force and reserves were read and a moment of silence was observed.

The Governor General, His Excellency The Most Honourable Cornelius A. Smith, Prime Minister The Most Honourable Hubert Minnis, The Honourable Marvin Dames, Minister of National Security and other Cabinet Ministers, Senators, Magistrates, Members of the Bahamas Christian Council, Members of the Diplomatic Corp., Retired Commissioners Reginald Ferguson & Mrs. Ferguson, Paul Farquharson & Mrs. Farquharson and other retired and serving police officers were in attendance. The service was also attended by Raymond King, Acting Commodore of the Royal Bahamas Defence Force, Commissioner Charles Murphy, Bahamas Department of Correctional Services, Dr. Geannine Moss, Comptroller of Customs, Clarence Russell, Director of Bahamas Immigration along with officers of the aforementioned agencies.

The Most Reverend Patrick Pinder, Archbishop of the Catholic Diocese of Nassau gave the Homily and encouraged the officers to demonstrate professionalism and integrity when dealing with the public. He also thanked all of the officers of law enforcement for their unselfish service.

The Honourable Marvin Dames addressed the men and women of the Royal Bahamas Police Force along with the other agencies and thanked them for their service.
